Call for Student Volunteers

We welcome applications from students worldwide to volunteer for the 2025 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI 2025, taking place in Trondheim, Norway, from March 17-20, 2025. This is a unique opportunity for students to connect with leading experts in Computational Intelligence, gain valuable conference experience, and contribute to the success of this prestigious event.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a master's or PhD student during the 2024-2025 academic year. PhD students who have already submitted or will submit their PhD theses before SSCI 2025 are also eligible to apply if they defend their theses after SSCI 2025.
  • Students from all backgrounds interested in Computational Intelligence are encouraged to apply.
  • Students (authors of submissions to SSCI 2025) from any country can apply to volunteer before their paper is submitted/accepted for SSCI 2025, but the offer will be conditional on the paper being accepted and registered.
  • Non-authors (students without submissions) can only apply if they live within Norway or do not require a visa to travel to Norway. However, priority will be given to the authors.
  • Enthusiastic and reliable individuals with a good command of English
  • Previous volunteer experience is not required, but a proactive and responsible attitude is essential.
  • Ability to fund travel and accommodation expenses (if the fund is insufficient).

Volunteer Responsibilities

As an on-site student volunteer, you will assist with various tasks for setting up and providing support during the SSCI 2025, including AV support, registration desk, poster and demo setup, break monitoring, etc.

Volunteers are required to arrive before the evening of March 16 for an orientation session and must be available for the entire duration of the event. While volunteering, you will have the chance to attend most sessions and activities. Scheduled hours will be at most 20 working hours.

Selection Criteria

We aim to select a diverse group of students representing various genders, backgrounds, universities, and geographical locations. Our goal is to ensure a mix of volunteers with and without previous experience, reflecting our vibrant and inclusive community. As mentioned earlier, author-students will be prioritized.
